Communication and language development involves giving children opportunities to experience a rich language environment, to develop their confidence and skills in expressing themselves, and to speak and listen in a range of situations.
The learning and development section of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets out the requirements that all early years providers must by law deliver from September 2012. Communication and language is one of the three prime areas of learning.
Take a look at the topic on Communication and Language on the Croner-i Early Years Management Toolkit for dot2dot, which has been revised and updated. It tells you all you need to know to meet the requirements of the EYFS in this important area.
