Supervision is a process that involves arranging regular and frequent meetings between a staff member and their supervisor for development and support. It is distinct from appraisal, which involves regular but infrequent meetings to review performance, plan development and set objectives. It is also is a requirement of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) statutory framework. Ensuring that all staff have regular supervision is widely accepted as best practice, especially with regard to safeguarding children from abuse.
The topic on Staff Supervision has now been completely re-written on the Croner-i Early Years Management Toolkit for dot2dot and will help you carry out an effective staff supervision programme.
